I think the police gave one of a couple of good reasons why the answer to that is "no". You do not kill the only person who can possible get your money back.

Let me add a couple more. There are no civil law suits against these guys, one would think that would be a precursor to premeditated murder, an if one of the sleuths here finds a couple, then they would be prime suspects and would know they would be prime suspects.

Nor does the crime scene denote any sort of extortion, any attempt to retrieve money. Nor is there any evidence of death threats ala pay money or I'll kill ya, sort of thing in evidence.

No... find out who benefited, not who was taken.
