- Demonstrates success of ATI's board market penetration
TORONTO, Nov. 1 /CNW-PRN/ - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) today announced that it shipped two million graphics boards in October, providing a strong start to its fiscal year 2000 which began September 1st. ATI also ended Fiscal 1999 with a bang, shipping two million graphics boards in August.
ATI, the world's leading supplier of graphics chips to all of the leading computer makers, manufacturers and distributes its own graphics and multimedia boards to a wide customer audience that includes the major build-to-order OEMs, system builders in North America, Europe, Asia and Japan and large retail distributors in all markets.
Hitting the two million boards target in October gives ATI an industry record no other graphics supplier can match,' said K.Y. Ho, President and CEO, ATI Technologies Inc. ``The OEM and system integrator board business accounted for about two-thirds of our revenues in Fiscal 1999 and we plan to continue to pursue it vigorously.'
ATI has excelled at plying the system integrator market, comprised of system builders who create millions of computer systems for corporate and retail markets the world over. In Europe especially, system builders out-ship the major computer-makers as they configure computers for regional distribution in the European market, a market that comprises more than 18 different languages.
ATI continues to maintain their leadership in the add-in board market, serving three major platforms (Apple, Intel, and Sun),' said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Associates (Tiburon, CA) the leading market research firm tracking digital media. ``They were a clear market share winner in Q2 and our preliminary research indicates they will hold that position in Q3 as well.'
ATI's success in the board market is the result of strong price/performance-leading products, a commitment to localization investment and marketing strategies developed specifically for the system builder and channel distribution markets. Among ATI's leading graphics board products are the performance leader 32MB RAGE(TM) Fury, the 32MB XPERT(TM) 2000 value performance board and value-leader XPERT(TM) 98 8MB board. In the multimedia category, system builders and OEMs alike have opted for the innovative All-in-Wonder(TM) board family, offering enhanced TV tuning and leading graphics on a single board or the ATI-TV Wonder(TM) TV tuner daughter board that will work with almost any graphics card. ATI's industry-leading video features, DVD acceleration and digital flat panel support software are contained in the ATI Multimedia Center(TM), popular with OEMs and system builders for its modular architecture.
Through ATI's facility near Dublin, Ireland, system builders in the European market are provided with timely ATI hardware and software products as well as customer support from offices in Germany, France and many other countries. ATI also maintains offices in Japan and services the Asia-Pacific region through representative houses in that area.
ATI's System Builder Program, which features an immediate product replacement commitment and product certification courses, was recently voted the number one vendor for the third year in a row by the top 140 system builders in North America and Latin America.
