"For decades, one of the best investment strategies has been to ignore the advice of gold bug James Dines. He was right, in stopped-clock fashion, during the 1979 inflation scare. Then he rode gold from $850 all the way down to $305. Letter-rater Mark Hulbert pegs the Dines Letter's return for 1980-97 at 1.7% a year.

In January 1998, long before last month's spike in gold stocks, Dines discovered his true calling. At around 67 he has rechristened himself the "original Internet bug." Proclaim his ads, "Buy Internets on every dip." Watch out below.
