All the companies mentioned don't need a license b/c they're using chips from companies who've already licensed. TI was awarded the ANSI/ETSI DMT standard and if you're a chip vendor and want to be compliant you have to pony-up. Obviously, they pass the costs on to those who buy their chips.

My point exactly. I can assure you with 100% certainty that ECI uses the chipset of one the vendors on your list.

Yes, I don't trust your information of this issue. Perhaps you are simply mistaken, or misinformed. Perhaps the TI/ECI has nothing at all to do with DSL.
