John, res-<<I know when I buy a new computer, my emotions are always "what a hassle this is going to be". No excitement, all negative.>>

You have said it ALL right there John! How many millions of people do you figure are sitting at their home tonight, who could easily afford to upgrade, in fact want to upgrade, but are waiting until the bitter end to actually do it because of this issue?

The present situation presents a HUGE opportunity to sell more advanced computer chips for Intel. And the companies who would begin to tackle such an issue, would be Intel, Microsoft, HP, Dell and Compaq. If those five were onboard with standardizing and simplifying the process, the others in the industry would rapidly follow.

Intel could even give a small rebate to OEM's who went along, because in the long run they would benefit tremendously.
