In Scotland, at the end of a story or anecdote, they'd say, "And there you have it." As if that was that. What could you do.
In Yorkshire, if the story included people, they'd say, "There's naught (pronounced like "out") so queer as folks." Now, that's "queer" as in strange, not as in "I'm just an old queer," as one Scottish author said of himself during an interview. And in his case it was true in both senses.

The kids have cleared out, so I think I'll escape my office and pray the other half of the mouse doesn't show up.
