His wife would likely pack, if she knew the itinerary.
The police know these facts already, we must surmise.
Keep bending the story until it wraps around the facts.
The suitcase and the rented car only make a little sense, at this point, about as much sense as driving to Tennessee.
A mule would work better for an illicit cargo than carrying it yourself, so the drive to Tennessee likely had to do with visiting someone.
Lehmann either wanted to, or had to be there.

There are many of us posting here who try and realize the very real and human nature of this tragedy. max90 grudgingly recognized a truth, here on SI not a lot of tears will be shed for the victims. However, I do feel everyone would offer the families sincere remorse at the loss of their loved ones.
My heart does go out to the Lehmann family.
