I kind of like the idea of ineluctable justice. But tell me, didn't you find JLA's aphorism, "A day without bile is like a day without sunshine as far as I'm concerned," to be witty?
I just started reading Barbara Holland's "Bingo Night at the Fire Hall," a collection of essays she wrote about living in Loudoun County, VA., which is contiguous to Fairfax, where I live, but in many ways another land. I live in a suburb of Washington, D.C., she lives on a Blue Ridge mountain, without near neighbors, or even cable TV, which is incomprehensibly country to me.
I do wish that the people posting on this thread would take the time to post little essays from time to time. I think I would love to read X describing an Ebay auction, or JLA talking about lunch, or you could talk about selling books, or even buying books as a bookdealer. Just think of all the brainpower and wordpower that's being wasted. |
