Hi Mohan,
Good morning (my time).
Tom: I am a yogi. Mohan: No you are not, you in the stock market ain't you?<vbg>
Since when can a householder not be a yogi?<VBG>
I haven't seen any Muslim,Hindu,Bhuddist,Sikhs,Jew etc knocking on my door asking me whether I have been 'saved' and/or 'born again',that is all I am saying.
Neither have I. All i get is Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses once in a while. I tell them I'm not interested. It's part of a free society, having to listen to the cacophony of "absolute truths" coming at you from all sides. I don't find this fearful.
Recently I read the parents in a Long Island school took the school and the teacher to court, the offence was the teacher taught the kids about other cultures, I heard they were really offended by the kids drawing a picture of Ganesh. The thing is when certain people do it it is all about freedom and if and when others dishout the same doze of medicine it considered very bitter and unhealthy and devil worship and such...yeah we know how it works.
Yes, I reckon religious fundamentalists are just as nutty in the US as in India. Are you really worked up over one nutty family in a nation of over 200MM going to court?
I mean what kind of world would this be if all 'culture' meant to everyone on the face of this world was BIG MAC,'SCHLITZ',MONEY AND SEX. I shudder to even think about it. So there that is my story and I am sticking to it.<vbg>
I rather hope you are too sophisticated to see this sad little litany as "American culture" (an oxymoron?<g>), or "western culture".
Very best wishes, Tom |
