I have a foreign broker as I'm a Canadian and he won't naked short the BBs for me and borrowing them is a real hassle. So it really isn't as easy as some would like you to believe. I have tried to do this through almost every major broker in Canada . . . they said forget it! Also trying to get a foreign broker to naked short BBs on behalf of an American citizen will be like pulling teeth. You really have to want to do it badly and may have to find a broker that is extremely shady if you want him to naked short the BBs for you. Borrowing US BBs to short is really hard. Trust me I tried it and I am bloody persistent. Most of the naked shorting done by foreign brokers is done for their own accounts imo not for the accounts of their clients. Hope that helps. Lola:)
