My statement is that it is rediculous to say that gun ownership decreases crime. To my knowledge there has been no causal link proven between firearms and decreased violence. All that you have are little anecdotes that prove nothing. Giving people guns would work if society was kind and reasonable in the first place. Sure, a room of well armed law-abiding citizens can help to prevent violent crime. However, increased gun ownership will give a lot of nuts deadly weapons. On balance, I'm inclined to believe there would be a net increase in violent crime. My analogy pointed out that a society that carried around anthrax would be very kind to each other for the most part. However, that society would also be very dead.
