The simplest reason of all is that when something goes wrong, they know who to call.
Other reasons are compatibility testing is more or less a given (companies always test
against there own gear first, then CSCO <g>). Cost leverage in some cases.


What are you talking about?

Those are characteristics of a homogeneous network, not a heterogeneous one.
