Packard Bell...R.I.P

Packard Bell Closes Shop - (SACRAMENTO) -- The budget axe has fallen on workers at one of the country's computer
giants. About 13-hundred workers at Packard Bell's Sacramento facility were given notice most of them will be laid off. The
plant will remain open until the end of the year... those workers remaining until then will receive a severance package consisting
of two weeks pay, and an additional week's pay for each year worked. Five years ago, when the Sacramento-based computer
company set up shop, it employed about six-thousand workers. But during the last couple of years, the company has seen its
market position erode as low-priced P-C competition increased.
