Can DWDM trip up C-Cube's one trick pony?

What do you mean by one-trick pony??? Decoders? Encoders? Settop boxes? The MPEG-2 STANDARD for DVD, HDTV, digital satellite, etc.

I forgot to mention -- satellite channels are inherently bandwidth limited so they have to use compression. DWDM cannot work with satellites because there is no optical fiber tether to the satellite. People hate their cable companies -- fiber or no fiber -- and Echostar and DirecTV are signing up subscribers in record numbers.

DWDM is fantastic technology for carrying loads of data. It is not easy technology and it is not cheap. It must be inexpensive, easy to implement by the installer, and foolproof in operation to find its way into consumer boxes.
