It is silly to waste jail space on mere property crimes (and drug crimes too). Precious jail space should be reserved for violent offenders who should be kept inside forever. Community service is the way to treat these other "crimes". And considering how poorly teachers are recompensed in our society I have trouble seeing it as a crime at all.
