Mark was talking about unsophisticated investors with limited net worth yet a desire to take advantage of equities.

It's unlikely any reputable broker would approve any kind of option trading for such an "investor".

And many much wealthier, much more knowledgeable investors don't trade options neither.

Mark's point was, and is, valid.

For most investors, there's no real difference between buying 1000 shares at $1 or 1 share at $1000 other than in their perception. And that perception allows the Pump and Dump artists to take them to the cleaners every time.
