NEWS RELEASE
PELICAN MOUNTAINS EXPLORATION UPDATE VSE SYMBOL: NBL November 03, 1999
"The company is pleased to announce that follow-up ground work has commenced at the Pelican Mountains Property. Groundwork will include a detailed follow-up at the Pelican Mountains Heavy Mineral Deposit, reconnaissance scale diamond indicator sampling, and a detailed examination of several discrete airborne magnetic anomalies.
A recent examination of the High-Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey indicates that the companies Pelican Mountains Heavy Mineral deposit may extend a considerable distance to the southeast. However, fieldwork will concentrate on its northwestern most expression where overburden is considered to be minimal. Here, a detailed ground-based magnetic survey will be employed to more accurately outline the extent of the deposit (about 1,800 meters by 400 meters) in preparation for a winter drill program. Also, additional material from the deposit will be collected from one of the hand trenches for additional geochemical and mineralogical test work.
In addition, the company will conduct detailed ground-geophysical surveys over a number of discrete aeromagnetic targets, which may be representative of kimberlitic intrusives. These include: several circular to sub-circular primary magnetic targets within the northernmost part of the property; a cluster of four targets located immediately to the southwest of Rock Island Lake (near the head of the Calling River drainage); a large subcircular magnetic low east of Rock Island Lake; and several circular to subcircular primary magnetic targets, which range from 200 to 500m diameter, within the western part of the property.
Reconnaissance scale diamond indicator sampling will also be employed to determine the validity of several discrete targets, which underlay the northern part of Orloff Lake. Contingent upon favorable results these and other lake-based targets will be followed-up with ground based geophysical surveys over the winter months.
The company also announces that it will no longer spend any funds in Suriname and has written-off its investment. The company will focus on development of its Heavy Mineral deposit and properties in Alberta, Canada.
