*Another reason there will be a capacity shortage...*

Time to get the blood flowing in this thread again!

Last night I posted (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/991102/ny_global__3.html) a link that discusses GBLX's new IP over OC-192 . . . a few observations!

1) There ALREADY IS a capacity shortage! As I detailed in my CC notes most of North American Crossing was full. So full that GBLX is installing two new OC-192's in the Northeast (they had only origionally planed one by the end of the YEAR).

2) The IP over OC 192 is very very very very very very important. It takes their optical transmission network from 2.5 Gbps to 10 Gbps. Hey that's a 4X increase!

3) The beginning of the end of SONET and ATM is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, these technologies will make lots of $$$ over the next three years, but look out5 below from there. IP allows us to squeeze out good ‘ol ATM (and SONET eventually). No more fancy compression algorithms (can you really believe our vice president invented all this stuff!?) no more crappy packet header sorting! We are getting ready for the time when packets will not be offloaded at every switch so that their headers are read. IP rocks! IP is the beginning of an all optical network (this means no circut based switches). Get ready for some serious capital implosion at several companies. WE witnessed history last nigh, and as usual, no one noticed. This link is one of many white papers I have that demonstrate, in a reasonable manner, why the aforementioned has and will continue to occur. By the way the chart on the front of the paper should convience you ALL that GBLX will be a gold mine . . .
