I suspect the partnership caused today's selling problem.

There is some rationale behind the weakness in both pmcs and csco. It appears to be incorrect, but I can see how the conclusion was formed.

MMCN sees a slowdown from cisco. Probably for more reasons than they are willing to admit.

But, MMCN's stuff sells almost exclusively into csco's enterprise LAN gear. That is the one segment of cisco's business that COULD see a moderate y2k slowdown.

Elsewhere at the edge of the network, to the ISP's and even overseas, business for csco appears pretty solid.

Now why do we own PMCS? It's primarily a WAN infrastructure company. Why do we WUV WAN?

1) It's the fastest growing communication infrastructure market segment.

2) Growth comes from BOTH the internet and the "Packetization" of the global circuit switch infrastructure.

3) Product Cycles are measured in years not minutes.

I don't think the collaboration will have any real negative impact on PMCS. Except perhaps the gift of a reckless seller.

Perhaps it's something else, but this seems the most likely to me.
