Geez...this seems like homework...but, I'll give it my best shot.

1. Potential monetary return.

2. RDRAM is the fastest memory available. 1.6 GB/s/33pins. The
33 pins is critical--this means that the memory controller
for a channel can be integrated on the CPU (TIMNA).

3. The only potential contender is SLDRAM. The MAJOR drawback
for SLDRAM is Intel's strong endorsement of RDRAM. None of
Intel's chip sets support SLDRAM.

4. The megabucks already invested for infrastructure to
produce RDRAM by 8 of the 10 major memory manufacturers.

5. Future software applications are multithreading intensive.
Windows 2000, speech recognition & synthesis, 3D Video,
3D CAD/CAM, Virtual Reality, etc. require high memory
bandwidth to prevent interference (process 1 waiting on
process 2).

6. BONUS 65% of Rambus' revenue is derived from sources other
than PCs.
