Kemble,

My bet's on HP.

With IBM its a matter of pride and they might use the PC as a loss leader for selling their services where the bulk of their profits are anyway. Gerstner (sp?) is already on the record with his desire to concentrate IBM's efforts thataway. The wild card of course is a possible deal with DELL which Michael Murphy (California Tech Newsletter) was talking about the other night.

Gateway is too good at what they do: selling to consumers.

Compaq will always be there simply because of their immense scale worldwide. They may be losing marketshare to DELL left and right, but they still are huge and a factor.

Which leaves us with HP. I may of course be completely wrong <VBG>. Your thoughts?

Best Wishes,

Sam
