That reminds me of the time the albino blood tech was going to draw some arterial blood out of my arm to test for blood gases- to see if I was getting enough oxygen. Asthma and all that.

Mr Pink-eyes jabs a long needle into my left forearm and says: "Let me know when this hurts".

He's not trying to hurt me, it's just that there is a major nerve running along the artery and when he tweaks it he knows he's found the spot to draw blood.

I feel a twinge of pain- I say "I feel something, I think you've got it" The tech gives me a wry look and says, "No, that's not it yet. You'll know when we've got it."

I say. "Oh, but how will I- AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

and he says, cheerfully, "That's it!", as I gasp and wonder if in fact my arm has been chopped in two.
