AIG will take 25% in IGL

US insurance major American International Group (AIG) will take a 25% stake in Delhi-based gas distribution company, Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL), through its local affiliate, IL&FS.

IGL has been promoted by public sector energy companies BPCL (Bharat Petroleum) and GAIL ( Gas Authority of India Ltd.), who have a combined 45% stake in the company. While, IDFC holds a 15% stake in the Rs1.27bn Indraprastha Gas, SBI Caps holds 10% and the government of Delhi is taking upto 5%. At present, AIG?s equity stands at Rs300mn.
