JDN: I am jealous too! I now have a little snippet that I read to keep my chin up and be positive.
“An investor in QUALCOMM stock who bought 1,000 shares for $16,000 in 1991 would, after the latest 4-for-1 split, own 16,000 shares worth about $880,000 based on current prices.”
As I have mentioned before, I make a living from the telecom industry. Qualcomm will soon not be in the telecom industry (my definition), but still I wouldn't have minded holding on to 1,000 shares in 1991...mind you...I had never really heard of them then! Oh well, suppose the same could be said of Microsoft.
The changing shape of telecom will throw up other opportunities, I am sure of it. The 3G business will probably be a little slower than many think. However, there are companies lining up or being formed now to take advantage of 3G, therefore having that upside potential (and I am not talking about the main manufacturers today here). Just a question of identifying them and when they go public. Don't ask me...I can't put my finger on one at the moment.
