That's the same as Siemens is doing. Siemens invested $1 billion in cool new companies (Castle Networks, Argon, and Accelerated Networks) but instead of creating a new compnay in Europe it created it in the US with the name Unisphere Solutions Inc.

This is also tied to its planned listing in the US in the year 2001. (The reason why I created the Siemens Thread). Next year Siemens will change its accounting to the US GAAP as part of the plan.
