Mozart is the only composer who has written operas that have many memorable themes, that I know of. Someone like Puccini writes a fine aria here and there, but mostly the music is serviceable at moving the story along and showing off vocalization. Also, the plots are generally melodramatic and hackneyed. Again, Mozart had a good librettist for a couple of his operas, notably "Don Giovanni" and "The Marriage of Figaro". Anyway, the main attraction is the singing, and these people were excellent....
