[GST Telecommunications to Deploy Enron's Advanced Internet Application Services]

ePowered(TM) Applications Complement Strengths of VITA Network

VANCOUVER, Wash., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- GST Telecommunications, Inc., a leading Integrated Communications Provider (ICP) in California and the western United States, today announced that its operating subsidiary GST Telecom, Inc. has entered into a distribution agreement with Enron Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Enron Corp. (NYSE:ENE), to deploy its ePowered Application Services to users of the World Wide Web.

Through the agreement with Enron, GST further strengthens its product portfolio and is capable of delivering ePowered Media Cast to its customers. Media Cast -- which can deliver up to one megabyte per second of broadcast-quality video to the desktop -- is one of the first application services that enables the delivery of TV-quality streaming video at an average speed that is ten times faster than what is currently available on the public Internet.

"Our agreement with Enron to deliver advanced Internet applications services such as Media Cast is just one more way GST is working to put its customers a step ahead," stated Joe Basile, president and chief executive officer of GST. "The ePowered applications are the perfect complement to the bandwidth capabilities of our Virtual Integrated Transport and Access (VITA) network. Utilizing the Enron Intelligent Network gives our customers access to additional services. As a leading ICP, we are committed to offering complete communications systems and multi-media solutions to our business customers."

Enron's ePowered applications tap into the strength of GST's VITA network. The VITA network utilizes a combination of IP, packet, frame, cell technology, and next generation switching equipment in conjunction with the circuit switches the Company already operates throughout the western United States. The new architecture allows high bandwidth interfaces to the customer for virtual transport and switching. The network is currently deployed in 19 of GST's major markets including Portland, Ore.; Seattle, Vancouver, and Spokane, Wash.; San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Palmdale, Riverside, Ontario, Pleasanton, and Walnut Creek, Calif.; Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Boise, Idaho; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Honolulu, Hawaii.

"The combination of GST's distribution arm and Enron's ePowered applications brings next generation e-business solutions to GST's subscribers," said Joe Hirko, chief executive officer of Enron Communications. "We are excited to name GST an ePowered distribution partner, and we look forward to revolutionizing the way people use the Internet."
