eToys does have a deal with AOL. AOL will deal with anyone and everyone. I think being tied to AOL is overrated. BN.com has been tied with AOL from the beginning and Amazon still blew them away.

From Wit Capital report 10/4/99

"eToys' recently signed $18 million, three-year expanded marketing agreement with AOL will promote the company as the premier retailer of children's products across various categories on Shop@AOL (e.g., Toys, Educational Toys, Kid and Baby Gear, Collectibles and Electronic Games) and on the AOL Channel, AOL Kids Only Channel, AOL.com, Netscape Netcenter and CompuServe. BabyCenter, which maintains a separate Web site, will also be featured on Shop@AOL, Shop@CompuServe and Shop@Netscape, and will provide editorial content on AOL's Health Channel."
