Schools employ thousands with criminal records(Georgia) Doug Cumming- AJC Parents who assume all teachers, school bus drivers and other school employees have been checked for a criminal past are wrong. Despite a 1994 state law requiring fingerprinting and criminal background checks, nearly 3,000 school employees in Georgia have criminal records. That's about 1.5 percent of public school employees.
