Types of Stock
Is there a place where I can get a definition on the different types of stock? Class A, B, convertible, restricted, etc etc.
The company I'm working for is going public within the next few weeks, and I just finished reading their filing....and jeez leweez, is it ever complicated. A french company that came to the US, then had a major stake sold to a S. African company, then redistributed, then had U.S. companies like AOL and Sun take big stakes, then re-incorporated in the Virgin Islands for tax purposes, and all the while restructuring all the outstanding shares in ways I cannot begin to understand. Somewhere in there I have options, but at this point I cannot even begin to understand where I stand with respect to all the other stuff that's happened to the share structure over the last two months.
