Right, but in that bracket, she'd pay almost 40% federal tax, and, I think, not sure, she'd have to pay social security tax. And then there's California income tax. So I am assuming a 50% tax bite. If she didn't pay taxes, double $96K to get the functional equivalent. She had the same spending power as someone earning twice as much, if that other person paid their taxes.
