Well, I believe the weakness in this stock and Amazon has to do with recent revenue numbers which were not exceptional. I don't think its the toys r us/AOL deal, although the drop corresponded with that announcement.

I'm not concerned with toys r us taking the business, I think etoys can grab the space if they want and their real competition is Amazon. But I'm beginning to wonder if the toy business is as good online as was once thought.

The best online retailing opportunities seem to be commodity products with limited selection such as books and CDs. When you get to spaces with tons and tons of little products, people don't want to spend the time digging them up on the web. I learned this myself with the drugstore sites - it took forever to find the toothpaste I wanted and I had 20 other things to buy. Otoh, pets is good because pet food is something you choose once and buy again and again, no selection. Hmmm not sure about toys really.
