You're getting confused between Sony and Nintendo. The new Playstation, a.k.a. Playstation II, is already designed for dual DRDRAM channels. The quote from EE-Times is referring to Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Dolphin.

Speaking of which, I find it hard to believe that Dolphin would adopt DDR-II, a memory standard that won't even be here for another 18 months, and whose peak memory bandwidth is no better than dual DRDRAM channels. Unless there's more to the story than we're aware of (there probably is), it would make no sense for Nintendo to forego a now proven memory technology (RDRAM) in favor of vapor (DDR-II).
