<<But I did once burn my entire left hand ... and that hurt.>>

Burns hurt like a son of a bitch. When I blew myself up last year being stupid with gas and flame it hurt. Luckily I had been a medic in the army and had a clue, cold water. Lots of cold water. Then cold packs. For hours. Even when I was shivering. Took 10 days for some of the bigger blisters to form.

Back in the 50s my father got a steam burn on his whole right hand. I told them to put it cool water but what does a kid know. Butter was the treatment. His whole hand blistered. The next day the doc told him if he'd put his hand in cool water instead of using butter he wouldn't have had the blisters.

Odd. They sent me to school and we had a class on first aid. When it was needed they ignored me. Why make me go to the 4th grade?

My friends nephew was burned to the bone on his knees and had no pain. The burn center said if a burn is bad enough there is no pain, the nerves are kaput.
