Layoffs I don't know how to interpret this news. It would seem that IBM mid range servers can't compete with the Intel clone servers? In today's tight labor market I can't imagine that it is more advantagous to layoff instead of redirect the workforce, unless the workforce is not responsive to redirection. I'm rambling here, but is there more resentment, aka union activity related to the pension plan changes here than meets the eye? TP
