Recent article in the hometown newspaper about "new" wealth categories. A little depressing: To be considered "wealthy" you had to have a net worth of $10 mil and be earning over $1 mil a year; to be "well off" you had to have a net worth between $1 and $10 million and earn $500K - $1mil a year; to be "upper middle class" you had to have a a net worth between $500K and $1mil and earn between 75K and 500K a year. What I hear is that to retire really comfortably (not necessarily extravagantly) you require a net worth of approximately $2.4 mil.
