Related to SUNW's "ass-kicking". Would anyone like to discuss the management reasoning that is causing this to occur?

One of the main reasons is SUNW's emphasis on the power of knowlegde from individuals. Does anyone think that Gosling and Joy just appeared out of thin air? If you do your wrong. Gosling and Joy are geniuses and the SUNW organization vigorously fostered this genius.

Can anyone name any individuals at MSFT with similar broad corporate intellectual recognition? NO, why is this, there has to be several geniuses at MSFT (more than SUNW). There are many MSFT geniuses, but MSFT stifles their creativity by lack of recognition for their accomplishments in the name of pure "branding" and control of this branding.

The results, these MSFT geniuses do not work as hard and reframe from being creative. Why? Lack of recognition of their brilliance and hard work.

The end result, as I talked about probably 4 years ago, is the decline of MSFT with the simultaneous rise of SUNW.

McNealy's management was the key to this. He recognized the power of creative individuals within his organization, IMHO. MSFT doesn't realize that they do not make their products, INDIVIDUALS do. That's why I believe Scott McNealy to be the best CEO of any corporation in America. He had the guts to stick to his philosophical guns. He also "melded" good corporate branding, excellent marketing with strong individual recognition and creativity to a level which no other CEO has approached. He wants to make his corporate "stars" famous because he knows that it will make money for his stockholders, make his company profitable, and make himself wealthy and very satisfied simultaneousl.
