Mark, I know where you stand also. You stand in the place of your father, Adam, who brought sin into the world because he disobeyed God. Since then, God tested his children many times in order for them to grow into his likeness.
He sent his son into the world as a second Adam to fulfill all righteousness and to overcome our sins and satan. He died for our sins and bruised satans head, giving us the opportunity to believe in him. We now have victory over death and satan because of what he did for mankind. But his only requirement is to love him and believe that he was crucified for our sins so that turning aside from our evil nature, we became Sons of God and brothers of Christ. If any man is not in Christ, then God does not know him, and he is still full of sin and follows after the desires of the flesh.
You must be born again, Mark. It is man's pride that gets in his way and causes him to believe that he is a god, not needing salvation.
Therefore, there are only two kinds of people in this world. Those that believe in and follow Christ and those that do not follow Christ. These are the ones that God considers dead in their sins.
I pray that as the head of your household, that you follow Christ and set an example to your spouse and children so that they will spend eternity in Heaven.
