GT Sold?

A source with ties inside GT Interactive is fueling the fire that a new owner for GT may be announced in the next few days. Rumors inside GT have suggested that both the US-based Hasbro Interactive and France-based Infogrames were both prospective buyers, and it would be only a matter of time before a sale price was announced.

While at least one source outside the company contends that Hasbro will be announcing the purchase of Infogrames tomorrow, our source says that Infogrames' founder, chairman, and CEO Bruno Bonnell spent last Friday in meetings at GT Interactive's New York offices.

Infogrames and Hasbro have been in hunger mode this year by purchasing many various gaming licenses and developers. Infogrames' last US purchase was of Accolade back in April.

GT has spent the last few month returning to its once-great status with stellar sales of Driver, the upcoming buzz over Unreal Tournament, and the recent release of several simply amazing screenshots of often-delayed Duke Nukem: Forever.
