Open note of thanx to Uncle Frank, LindyBill & Merlin...
With all of the lurkers coming to the fore the past couple of months, and thanking the founders of this thread, one wonders how many other lurkers there are out there. I wonder what the poster/lurker ratio is?
In any event, it seems that only some of us get a chance to really make a difference in people's lives. Physicians, priests, investment authors, and some others get a chance; inventors of internets, PCs, telephones, get a chance; senior senators, and on and on. But many others can make a small difference or no difference with their jobs. For example, my cousin has worked for IBM since '73, is probably a gazillionaire based on options; yet hates his job and thinks business is BS and politics; he makes a difference by being the Little League manager of his son's teams, and other community things. Sadly, there are those who can make a difference, but don't for various reasons.
The many testimonials of late should hearten the thread founders; you have likely made more of difference in some people's lives thru the opportunity for discussion and refinement of G. Moore's principles provided by this thread. For some, the difference is profound. By making a difference, you have achieved a measure of satisfaction and serve as role models for others.
I don't think I worded this very well, but I think you get the point. I'm just trying to say you've achieved a measure of greatness by the magnitude of your contributions, and their ramifications on people.
