It's a 400 page book filled with vigorous arguments. It's interesting that his critics zero in on one paragraph and deliberately ignore the rest. I suspect it's a diversion. All he's doing is questioning the prevailing interpretation of the war. He isn't alone, there are quite a few respected historians who agree. Admittedly they are a minority, but it is not a "fringe" view.
