Novell Debuts GroupWise Enhancement Pack
Nov 04, 1999 (Tech Web - CMP via COMTEX) -- Novell has debuted an extension to GroupWise that includes broader support for certain Internet protocols.
The developer's Enhancement Pack for GroupWise 5.5 is an extension designed to manipulate multiple messages, delete messages without opening them, and access Internet directories, such as Bigfoot, through the LDAP Internet standard, a company spokesman said.
The software is available for $20 per user through Novell's business partners, the spokesman said.
Groupwise 5.5 integrates e-mail, document management, calendar, scheduling, and Web-publishing features.
Aside from the additional Internet functionality, the enhancement package offers easier, more flexible printing and more efficient administration of the GroupWise environment, the company said.
The enhanced GroupWise Windows client offers expanded printing capabilities and HTML editing and integrates open Internet standards. Users gain enhanced security and the ability to access multiple e-mail systems, such as GroupWise, Isocor N-Plex Global Server, and Microsoft Exchange, using the GroupWise client, the spokesman said.
The server agent now has an interface that lets users dial in from any Web browser to check up on their GroupWise systems, he said. In addition, increased manageability of GroupWise 5.5 in Windows NT environments lets GroupWise run as a service rather than an application, the spokesman said.
