Hickory, Congrats on the first post on the the Gemini Board.
At this point in time there is little going on that is much
more exciting than watching paint dry. What little I know
on the legal front:

Regarding the past President's Defamation Suit:
It is my understanding that counsel for Mr. Laird filed his Statement of Defense in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on October 27, 1999. It is available as No
A992417 from the Vancouver Registry.

Regarding the Shareholder's Derivative Action:
As of November 3rd, Mr. Laird was still waiting for a Statement of Defense from Jarvis, Hislop & Campbell. They
missed their first deadline of October 31st and Mr. Laird's Attorney graciously gave them an extension to November 15th.

And finally, on Laird vs Ultra:
Mr. Laird received a letter on Nov. 3 confirming that
Burnett, Duckworth, Palmer (BDP) will no longer be acting for Ultra. Apparently this was the same firm that withdrew
their services from Jarvis and Hislop on Sept. 13.
I've never heard of Attorneys withdrawing from a case they
could win. But, heck, maybe Canadian Attorneys are a little
more self sacrificing than their US brethern--even if they
could win a case, if they have a moral conflict they might
withdraw. Geeze, that couldn't be right. LOL.
Anway, usual disclaimers on my part. Everyone do their own
Due Dilly and check out the facts and motives behind the
NRs and make their own decisions.
I'm still trying to get the cast of players figured out.

I might BE way off base on this, but I'm sure enough of my
foggy memory to post by conjecture:
I noticed that there is a little excitment over on the UP
thread regarding Questar's activity in the Mesa. I think
that if the Pannonian Partners suit against UP is successful
the Mesa Property will also go back to GNI as would the
Gemini property. I believe that Mr. Laird has always hoped for the
best for Questar, as he would like to have them as a partner
in the future. LOL.
If anyone wants to point out any glaring errors here, I'd
be happy for the corrections.
Regards to all, looking for some way cheaper shares in the
future.
