I've never seen something so retarded

my friend has Schwab, and we did a short
together. so now I wanted him to buy to
cover the short, only Schwab's software
does not distinguish a buy to cover over
a buy to hold. that's ridiculous! What
if we wanted to cover AND go long today?
so instead, we bought stock, praying it
would be used to cover his short, and
won't go long till Monday out of fear
that he'll end up being short and long
the same stock because Schwab makes no
distinction between these two types of
buy orders. is it me, or does this kind
of situation suck?
