I'm surprised you would engage in pop psycho jive by saying Pat is just trying to justify his father. He also does not characterize the loss of life as futile. His point - that the war might have been avoided - has nothing to do with denigrating Americans who gave their lives.

He points out that Roosevelt, as soon as he was safely elected to a third term, began maneuvering us into the war. Even Roosevelt's friends admit that. He also says the war would have been difficult to stay out of, he questions the way certain things were executed, mostly at the diplomatic level. I lost an uncle in the war. I don't think he's being denigrated. It would have been nice to have met the guy.

When did Coughlinite become such a derisive term? I have three volumes of the radio priest's broadcast speeches, and I have found nothing in there to justify the calumny he receives these days.
