Craig,
Hi!!
RE: Looks like DELL is the stock to own unless you believe strongly in a CPQ recovery.

I believe that Compaq's acquisition of DEC gave DELL an opportunity they couldn't refuse...Unfortunately, this has created a false perception...DELL may have sacrificed some pennies in the fourth and first quarter in order to start a massive wound there...I believe "THE PAIN TO CAUSE MUCH PAIN" is the most significant quote Michael has made to date...On top of this strategy...I do not believe DELL's model will permit that recover of CPQ ...IMO Tom Meredith was referring to this continuing bleeding when he stated that their model could leverage and push any company when and wherever they wished...Also I have heard that more layoffs are perhaps coming..The recent European numbers prove that DELL is conquering the world...CPQ is no longer the preferred...As for survival...Michael's comments about the cost of doing business being twice at CPQ as what DELL can provide...On top of this cost comparison...DELL is attempting to further reduce their costs (Nashville I believe is an example of this)...I frankly don't know how CPQ can compete..

Best, kemble
