Can anyone tell me why I cannot sell/trade/barter some of my stocks with another person without having to go through a broker? With everything else I own including my home, I can either choose to go through a broker or sell it directly. It is not that difficult! Why then, can I not sell my stocks directly for a certain value that is agreed upon in writing or whatever, just as any other commodity or asset I own? Brokers only take your money but for what??
I would entertain any intelligent discussion on this subject and I would be willing if enough interest is generated, to start a separate thread on this subject to explore all of the ramifications connected with this pursuit.
