The system gave us an Internet that works, 100,000 shareware programs (some of which work), office standards that have measurably improved worker productivity, PCs that are almost free, and more. Would you rather go back to 1980 and pay IBM $40,000 for a single-user system with a mono monitor and a 10MHz CPU? Should we all rush headlong to buy back copies of Lotus 1.0 for DOS? Was DR-DOS really that good? Was Netscape ever that good? Has AOL's growth faltered? Are Internet IPOs going broke? Where's the harm from MSFT's monopoly? Certainly not the consumers who can give their kids nifty PCs at Xmas. Nor businesses who got more than dreamed possible. Who was hurt? In basketball they call it "no harm, no foul". Craig
