RE: Other ASP players

A lot of companies are calling themselves ASPs because basically any service delivered over the web could be considered ASP, from free e-mail to sites where you can store photos. I'm focussing on business-to-business ASP of the sort of core business applications that customers will be prepared to spend a lot of money on, like the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) apps that USIX specializes in. The number of ASP pure plays meeting this description is small, with USIX being the first mover.

My other big ASP holding is QWST. They have signed some highly forward looking agreements with software companies like SAP and business computing companies like HP to host applications and services from the network of Cybercenters they are building. Of course, QWST isn't a ASP pure play. Actually, via it's merger with USWest, QWST has a small interest in USIX I believe.

Last week I purchased stock in ResourcePhoenix.com (RPCX) a recent IPO still currently in quiet period. They are offering ASP of accounting and customer relationship solutions to the financial services industry and seem to have had some success in this area already.

Then you get your general web hosting and co-location companies like EXDS and NAVI (I own EXDS), but these aren't strictly ASPs because they don't specialize in any particular service offering.

As for stocks that reflect the plumbing used by ASPs, start at CSCO and work down from there!
