Monty,

I believe MSFT is an unavoidable evil. I also use their products. My main points were that:

1) The Judge was (for once) right on target.

2) I had always despised their methods.

That said, I don't believe for a moment that anything the DoJ is going to do to MS is going to be in my best interest. (I don't like big government either)

And Vitas very eloquently demonstrated that the methods I despise are inherent to monopolies, and may also be viewed in a favorable light.

As to the claim that MS has empowered you, regretfully MS products are neither the easier to use, nor the most powerful, but the most widely available. And MS have squelched innovation repeatedly smothering emergent companies with excellent products. (And I'm not talking about IBM here, their only worthy PC product is Laptops)

I insist that MS is too big to get hurt. Things are going to change, but eventually everything will remain the same.

Nice talking to you again after all this time,

theRedDog.

PS: You mentioned OS/2. Did you know that the development o OS/2 was commissioned to MS by IBM? And that after several years of (intentional?) delays IBM finally took over? When that happened, Gates later added many of OS/2 main features into a new Windows, named Windows95. IBM raised a big stink, but MS got away with it. (as always...)

(just a little bit of trivia)
